Good-bye treatment; hello remission

I have to say it is good to write that title. On August 17th Joe finished his last chemotherapy treatment. September 1st his end of treatment scans came back clear, clear, clear. September 24th, in an outpatient surgical procedure, Joe's port and central line were removed. Joe will continue to have scans every three months for the next five years. He will also have surgery to repair his arm sometime this fall.

This is the appropriate post to introduce to you Joe's song, created for him by the wonderful organization, the Songs of Love Foundation. This song was written and is performed by Carl Allocco, to whom we are very grateful. Take a listen: Joe Britton

This is a picture of my Mother's Day present from Joe this past May. I call it our cancer warrior and it has been doing a good job for us.

Joe's constant access to wonderful medical care, both now and throughout his whole life, has been central to his good response. We wish that access was readily available to all children. With that in mind and to celebrate our glad moment, we have established a fund at the Free Medical Clinic: Joe's Family Fund. The Fund will further help local families in need with medical and dental care for their children. If you would like to join us in this effort, you are welcome to make a contribution via mail to: Joe's Family Fund, Free Medical Clinic, 120 North Dubuque Street, Iowa City IA 52245 www.freemedicalclinic.org

I still am working on an on-line photo album from this summer and will send out a notice when it is ready.

Peace and good health to you all.

Love,
Jenny, Tom, Seth, and Joe
